Description For Engineering Manager: Stateful Platform

Uber is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their Stateful Platform team, which is responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure that deploys and runs all database engines and stateful systems worldwide. The team manages an impressive infrastructure of nearly 100,000 hosts, millions of containers, and exabytes of storage across multiple geographical regions.

The role combines technical leadership with people management, requiring someone who can drive technical alignment while growing and mentoring a team. You'll be working with a diverse team spread across San Francisco, Palo Alto, Seattle, New York, and Bangalore, managing critical infrastructure that supports Uber's global operations.

The position offers unique challenges in scaling and automating database operations, with a focus on high availability and efficiency. You'll be working with modern technologies including Go, Kubernetes, and various database engines like MySQL, Redis, and Kafka. The team emphasizes clean code, thorough testing, and peer review processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering leader who wants to make a significant impact on critical infrastructure at a global scale. The role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge technology while building and leading a high-performing team. The hybrid work environment in Aarhus, Denmark, provides a balance between remote work and in-person collaboration.

If you're passionate about distributed systems, have a track record of technical leadership, and enjoy mentoring others, this role offers the perfect blend of technical challenges and leadership opportunities. Join a team that's shaping the future of Uber's infrastructure while working in a collaborative, impact-driven environment.
