Description For Production Management Engineer

Quality and Reliability Production Management Engineer serves as the primary liaison between Platform Engineering and the broader Uber engineering community, advocating for quality and reliability standards throughout the product lifecycle. In this role, the Production Management Engineer provides valuable insights and recommendations to enhance or refine products, services, and tools, with the ultimate goal of improving production quality and reliability.

The Production Management Engineer leads initiatives aimed at ensuring that service teams adhere to production policies and best practices, thereby maintaining high standards of production quality. By championing quality-focused initiatives and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, the Production Management Engineer plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of excellence and reliability within Uber's technology ecosystem.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather insights and feedback on production quality and reliability challenges
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on quality and reliability practices
  • Developing and delivering technical presentations, workshops, and training sessions
  • Analyzing production data and metrics to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement
  • Participating in incident reviews, post-mortems, and root cause analysis sessions

The ideal candidate should have:

  • BS or higher degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience in big data analysis and data pipeline infrastructure
  • Proficiency in tooling development languages like Python, SQL, Tableau
  • 3+ years of experience in software development and user experience fields
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders
  • Experience in Quality Assurance or Reliability Engineering is highly desirable
