Sr Staff Engineer - Uber Connect & Direct

Uber Connect and Direct are fast-growing products in the C2C (Consumer to Consumer) and B2C (Business to Consumer) spaces. As a Sr Staff Engineer, you'll lead product development for these services.

Uber Connect (aka Flash) allows consumers to request deliveries within their city, from sending documents to returning forgotten items, using the Uber Rider app.

Uber Direct is a business-level offering, enabling merchants to create deliveries using our Dashboard or by integrating with our public API, adding delivery services to their existing platforms.

In this role, you will:

• Collaborate with engineers, Product Managers, and Designers to build towards the roadmap
• Contribute to engineering culture, focusing on quality, monitoring, and on-call practices
• Uplevel the engineering team through mentorship and best practices
• Lead wider organizational efforts for Delivery and Uber overall
• Identify value, create efficiencies, and teach others to do the same
• Provide technical leadership to the full engineering team, including Staff level engineers

You'll need strong problem-solving skills, expertise in algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis, as well as experience with distributed systems. We're looking for candidates with resilience, determination, an ownership mindset, and a collaborative spirit.
