Staff Cloud Hardware Solutions Architect, Storage

Uber Next Gen Fleet Engineering team is seeking a Staff Cloud Hardware Solutions Architect specializing in Storage. This role is crucial for providing TCO optimized, high-quality, and reliable hardware and cloud infrastructure solutions to support Uber's diverse applications across Mobility, Delivery, and Freight.

The position focuses on ensuring performance metrics are met or exceeded across various platforms, with a particular emphasis on storage. You'll be responsible for every aspect of performance, including benchmarking, system tuning, application debugging, and optimization.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Strategic assessment and planning of new storage technologies
2. Design and architecture of storage systems
3. Overseeing qualification and benchmarking pipelines
4. Cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and suppliers
5. Driving innovation in tooling and automation
6. Making immediate impact with hands-on engineering skills

The ideal candidate will have:

• 6+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience, focusing on storage technologies
• BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience
• Strong understanding of server hardware and related software dependencies
• Automation and collaboration bias
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong sense of ownership and initiative
