Univrse, a Barcelona-based content creation VR studio, is seeking a Lead Developer (Unity) to drive the development of cutting-edge VR products. The company is developing Xroam, an innovative solution for location-based VR experiences. As a Lead Developer, you'll manage a talented team of developers while shaping the technological vision of our projects.

The role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring expertise in Unity development and XR technologies. You'll be responsible for implementing best practices, overseeing the development lifecycle, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality immersive experiences. The position demands strong collaboration with product managers, artists, and designers to create cohesive and innovative VR solutions.

The ideal candidate brings 6+ years of Unity development experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Deep knowledge of XR applications, including OpenXR, SteamVR, and OculusVR frameworks, is essential. Experience with multiplayer applications, version control, and code review practices is required. Additional expertise in game backend services, RESTful APIs, or AI technologies is highly valued.

Responsibilities For Lead Developer (Unity)

  • Lead and mentor a team of developers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Take ownership of the technical side of immersive experiences and design scalable solutions
  • Implement best practices for code quality, testing, integration and delivery
  • Oversee the development lifecycle from concept through deployment
  • Collaborate with product managers on deadlines and resource management

Requirements For Lead Developer (Unity)

  • 6+ years of experience as a Unity developer, with 2+ years in leadership
  • Expertise in XR applications, OpenXR, SteamVR, and OculusVR frameworks
  • Experience with working on a live product
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns
  • Experience with version control systems like GIT
  • Experience in developing multiplayer/networked applications
  • Experience in code review through Pull Requests
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in Agile development methodologies
