Principal Software Engineer

As a Principal Software Engineer in the Platform group, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the technical direction across multiple teams and products.

The position offers an opportunity to work on Vanta's Platform group, which is fundamental to enabling engineering excellence across the organization. You'll be responsible for leading initiatives that span across 6+ different teams, impacting all of Vanta's products and engineering teams. The Platform group's mission encompasses building shared product services, frontend components, design systems, backend infrastructure, and internal developer tooling.

Your role will involve identifying and solving complex, high-impact problems while working with multiple stakeholders. You'll be instrumental in setting technical direction that affects the entire engineering team, from critical systems to developer productivity. Using modern technologies like TypeScript, React, and Node.js, you'll design and develop new product functionality and infrastructure.

The ideal candidate brings extensive technical leadership experience from both startup and scale-up environments. You should have a proven track record of leading complex projects, mentoring teams, and making effective technical decisions that balance immediate needs with long-term sustainability. Your experience in building multi-year architectural changes and working with cross-functional stakeholders will be valuable in this role.
