Description For Senior Integration & Test Engineer

At Vast, our mission is to contribute to a future where billions of people are living and thriving in space. We are building artificial gravity space stations, allowing long-term stays in space without the adverse effects of zero-gravity. Our initial crewed space habitat will be Haven-1, scheduled to be the world's first commercial space station when it launches into low earth orbit in August 2025. Our team is all-in, committed to executing our mission safely and on time.

As a Senior Integration & Test Engineer at Vast, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of systems required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Integration Manufacturing, you will ensure the successful integration and test of assemblies into the Haven-1 space station.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing integration build flow and test operations
  • Evaluating proposed designs for manufacturability and integration
  • Interfacing with engineers and technicians to optimize manufacturing and automation
  • Developing and refining manufacturing assembly procedures
  • Enabling day-to-day execution of the vehicle integration and test flow
  • Evaluating non-conformances to determine root cause and create actionable items and system improvements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of experience integrating and testing spacecraft assemblies / subassemblies
  • Hands-on hardware and manufacturing experience

Preferred skills and experience include:

  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, or other programming languages
  • Experience with integration and testing of propulsion, life support, thermal, and avionics systems
  • Documentation and configuration management experience
  • Experience writing test plans, procedures, and providing go/no-go judgment and rationale
  • Experience in a production environment

Additional requirements:

  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
