You'll be responsible for designing and implementing robust, scalable backend systems that seamlessly integrate with Via's ecosystem. The position requires strong technical expertise in distributed systems, APIs, and database architectures, along with experience in modern cloud platforms and infrastructure tools. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that directly impact the efficiency of transit operations and enhance the rider experience.

The company has created the first end-to-end TransitTech solution for cities and transit agencies, combining world-class software, service design, and operational expertise. Responsibilities For Senior Backend Engineer
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems for a new product that integrates with Via's platform
- Own backend features end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to deployment and maintenance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and impactful solutions
- Drive technical discussions, make architectural decisions, and ensure best practices are followed
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve backend issues to ensure system uptime and performance
- Research and implement tools, frameworks, and processes to improve backend reliability and efficiency
Requirements For Senior Backend Engineer
- Minimum of 4 years of experience designing and building robust backend systems for production environments
- Expertise in developing and maintaining APIs, distributed systems, and efficient database architectures
- Familiar with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
- Skilled in system design, debugging, and performance optimization
