Data Engineer, Graduate or Industrial Placement- Sept 2025 start

Vortexa, a pioneering company in the energy industry, is seeking a Data Engineer for a Graduate or Industrial Placement starting September 2025. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, processing thousands of data points per second from various external sources.

As part of the Data Production Team, you'll be responsible for Vortexa's comprehensive data operations, ranging from mixing raw satellite data with rich text data to generating high-value forecasts. You'll work on designing and building infrastructure and applications to propel the design, deployment, and benchmarking of existing and new pipelines and ML models.

This role provides excellent learning opportunities in data engineering, machine learning, and business operations. You'll be an integral part of a team of 3-5 engineers and data scientists, contributing to the same goals and roadmap. Key technologies you'll work with include Python, Java, SQL, AWS, Docker, Airflow, MLFlow, Kubernetes, Kafka/Redpanda, and more.

The ideal candidate should be fluent in software engineering fundamentals, driven by working in an intellectually engaging environment, and excited about the challenges of a start-up. Proficiency in Python and comfort with Pandas/Numpy are essential.
