The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in structural analysis and design of conventional and complex bridges, along with experience in preparing DOT bridge design packages.

Responsibilities For Structural Bridge Engineer

  • Technical lead roles in design and management of conventional and complex bridges
  • Technical lead for analysis, design, construction support services
  • Prepare Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) packages
  • Design and manage civil projects
  • Conduct bridge load ratings
  • Conduct bridge inspections/scoping and condition assessments
  • Interact with other civil engineering disciplines
  • Prepare federal, state, and local permits
  • Lead efforts on proposals, marketing, project reports and technical presentations
  • Monitor scope, budget, and schedule for projects
  • Mentor staff for growth and professional development
  • Attend client, public, project, and staff meetings

Requirements For Structural Bridge Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with emphasis on structural engineering
  • 7 years of transportation structural design experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Experience with structural analysis and design of conventional and complex bridges
  • Experience in preparing MDOT, ODOT, other DOT's bridge design packages
  • Software experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation/Geopak/ORD
  • Knowledge of AASHTO, AREMA, and DOT design standards
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
