This role focuses on building and scaling access control systems that power the permissions framework across Webflow's platform. The ideal candidate will bring 7-10 years of experience in scalable environments, with specific expertise in RBAC and related access control systems.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $164,000-$263,500 USD, depending on location, along with comprehensive benefits including equity, full healthcare coverage, and flexible PTO. As a Staff Backend Engineer, you'll architect and implement scalable backend services, collaborate across teams, and mentor other engineers. Responsibilities For Staff Backend Engineer
- Architect, design, and implement scalable backend services related to Role Based Access Control (RBAC)
- Drive cross-pillar collaboration with software engineers, product managers, designers, and QA analysts
- Effectively communicate team priorities and strategy to leadership teams
- Write and update scalable software in modern stacks
- Build and maintain unit and integration tests
- Mentor, coach, and inspire a team of engineers
- Improve planning, development, and deployment processes
Requirements For Staff Backend Engineer
- Experience building and scaling access control systems (RBAC, ReBAC, ABAC, PBAC, ACLs)
- 7-10+ years of experience in scalable, multi-tenant environments
- 2+ years experience tech-leading feature teams
- Strong testing and documentation skills
- Comfortable with ambiguity and scoping solutions
- Experience communicating trade offs throughout projects
- Experience presenting to executive counterparts
