Mid-level Backend Software Engineer

Wellhub (formerly Gympass) is a corporate wellness platform connecting employees to fitness, mindfulness, therapy, nutrition, and sleep partners through a single subscription. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in NYC, Wellhub has a growing global team across 11 countries. They're seeking a Mid-level Backend Software Engineer for their Data Platform team in Brazil.

The Data Platform Team builds and maintains system components for data engineers and analysts, using AWS cloud infrastructure and various software solutions. Team members come from diverse technical backgrounds and focus on cross-training and mastering all relevant activities.

Key projects include:

• Cost-effective query engine tooling
• Metastore catalog manager for table and schema evolution
• ABAC access control system for Trino
• Query optimization and cost reduction tools
• Access log aggregation for faster, cheaper queries

As a Mid-level Backend Software Engineer, you'll:

• Advocate for software quality, security, and performance improvements
• Embrace DataOps to streamline tasks
• Collaborate with Analytics Engineers and Data Analysts
• Provide tooling to enhance product development
• Ensure effective knowledge sharing
• Contribute to the company's wellbeing-focused culture

Requirements:

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Python and Java experience preferred
• Strong SQL skills (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Familiarity with message brokers (e.g., Kafka, Pulsar)
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools
• Understanding of distributed systems and data-intensive applications
• Knowledge of analytical data warehouses
• Interest in big data applications and trends
