Wellhub (formerly Gympass) is seeking a Mid-Level Backend Software Engineer to join their Partners Payout team. As a corporate wellness platform headquartered in NYC with a global presence across 11 countries, Wellhub connects employees to premium wellness services including fitness, mindfulness, therapy, nutrition, and sleep through a single subscription.
The role involves working on critical payment processing systems that handle over one million daily partner visits. You'll be part of a team using cutting-edge technologies like Kotlin, Go, PostgreSQL, and Kafka, all hosted on AWS and Kubernetes. Key responsibilities include optimizing payment flows, managing commercial conditions, and ensuring system scalability.
The ideal candidate should be passionate about writing quality, testable code and have strong experience with cloud-based applications and microservices architecture. While experience with Go and Kotlin is beneficial, the focus is on finding excellent problem-solvers who can contribute to system optimization and code quality improvement.

Responsibilities For Mid-Level Backend Software Engineer
- Participate in pair-programming sessions and contribute to code style and workflow improvements
- Collaborate with Product Manager and stakeholders to accomplish goals and initiatives
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve features focusing on performance, scalability and stability
- Mature codebase and improve code quality through refactoring
- Use observability tools for troubleshooting and application optimization
- Work with SREs and technical teams on CI/CD, deployments and infrastructure
Requirements For Mid-Level Backend Software Engineer
- Strong problem-solving skills with algorithms and data structures
- Experience in writing testable code and focus on code quality
- Experience with Cloud-based applications and microservices architecture
- Experience with SQL technology (PostgreSQL or MySQL)
- Experience in developing RESTful web services
- Backend software development experience (mandatory)
