Description For Backend Engineer

At Wheely, we're building the world's first Luxury-as-a-Service, combining modern engineering and design with the highest standards of service. We focus on helping our clients reclaim their time by connecting them to places and people that matter. As a Backend Engineer, you'll join one of our dynamic technical teams, working on projects like Marketplace, Privacy, Passenger, Supply, or B2B.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and discuss project goals
  • Participating in the analysis, design, and evaluation of technical requirements
  • Writing clean, scalable, and efficient code mainly in Go
  • Implementing and supporting microservices
  • Performing unit testing and participating in integration and system testing
  • Reviewing code written by peers
  • Writing and maintaining technical documentation

We're looking for candidates with:

  • 3+ years of experience developing scalable and reliable backend services
  • Proficiency in Go, Ruby, Python, C++, Java, or Kotlin
  • In-depth knowledge of databases and messaging systems like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, and RabbitMQ
  • Upper-Intermediate or higher English proficiency

Our current stack includes Go microservices, a shrinking Ruby monolith, Node.js, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Thrift, Redis, AWS, Terraform, K8s, and Jenkins.
