Staff Geospatial Database Software Engineer

Wherobots is seeking passionate and experienced software engineers to join their team in building the distributed geospatial cloud database of the future. As a Staff Geospatial Database Software Engineer, you'll work on SedonaDB & geospatial analytics, building new features, designing and implementing APIs to extend geospatial query capabilities, and improving the performance, observability, and reliability of SedonaDB's distributed query engine.

The company is 100% cloud-native, using modern tools and technologies. SedonaDB and Apache Spark are built in Java and Scala, with optimized Python wrappers and SDKs, deployed on cloud-based Kubernetes environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable query capabilities for the geospatial cloud database
• Implement new vector and raster functions and algorithms
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Contribute to open-source projects like Apache Sedona and Apache Spark
• Stay updated with industry trends in geospatial and database technologies

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in implementing scalable, distributed spatial query algorithms
• Proficiency in Java and/or Scala
• Strong background in distributed systems, query engines, and algorithms
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
