Description For Senior Android Engineer (Women's Health)

As a Senior Android Engineer on the Women's Health team, you'll be at the forefront of developing innovative features that empower users to optimize their health and wellness. The role focuses on creating sophisticated tools for women's health, including Pregnancy Insights and Menstrual Cycle Coaching.

You'll work with WHOOP's core pillars—Strain, Sleep, and Recovery—to deliver personalized guidance through intuitive user interfaces. The position requires expertise in Android development, using Kotlin and Java, along with modern architectural patterns and frameworks. You'll be responsible for building robust features, mentoring junior developers, and ensuring high-quality app performance.

Responsibilities For Senior Android Engineer (Women's Health)

  • Utilize Kotlin and Java to develop and maintain product features and communicate with RESTful backend
  • Lead and contribute to new feature ideation, planning, and development
  • Work with Product Engineers to devise solutions to challenges across the WHOOP system
  • Document new features and architecture
  • Help mentor and elevate junior developers on the team
  • Analyze and monitor user metrics and feedback to determine crash rate or potential bugs and improve engagement
  • Participate in the release process including app building, managing build variants, signing, testing through Firebase, and submitting to App store
  • Self organize using productivity tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Github

Requirements For Senior Android Engineer (Women's Health)

Kotlin
Java
  • Product minded engineer with empathy for the member experience
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow rapidly across Android and external systems
  • Expert knowledge of Android application structure and components as well as lifecycle and Android Design Guidelines
  • Experience in building, testing, debugging, and delivering native Android apps in a professional environment
  • Knowledge of Kotlin and frameworks such as Coroutines, Android Jetpack libraries, Room database, and Retrofit/OkHttp
  • Experience using Git to organize feature work
  • Experience using best-practice mobile architecture and modular design, including patterns such as MVVM, MVI
