Senior Software Engineer (Backend, Connectivity)

The Connectivity team's mission is to enable a 24/7 connection and interaction between the WHOOP wearable sensor, mobile apps, and the Cloud backend. The team collaborates closely with the Firmware, Software, and Data Science teams to provide seamless, quick, and performant communication to and from the hardware.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Connectivity team, you will be responsible for the primary pipeline for sensor data uploaded from the mobile apps, including API definition, parsing, persistence, and dispatching for Cloud processing by data science and AI components.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing, building, releasing, and operating Cloud services that ingest, store, and dispatch large amounts of data
• Migrating and improving systems for scale and complexity
• Leveraging technologies including Java, Kafka, Postgres, S3, Redis, and Cassandra
• Participating in team estimation and milestone definition for project deliverables
• Becoming a relied-upon expert in the Connectivity backend software domain
• Participating in project design reviews and providing feedback
• Representing the Connectivity team in cross-functional guilds at WHOOP

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
