As a Senior R&D Flight Test Engineer, you'll join their Advanced Research and Development team in Mountain View, playing a crucial role in shaping the future of urban air transportation.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work on groundbreaking autonomous flight technology, focusing on testing autonomy technologies, new propulsion systems, and advanced concepts. Working in a hybrid model (3 days onsite at Mountain View/Hollister offices), you'll lead comprehensive flight test activities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure R&D projects meet their objectives.

Your responsibilities will span from developing test requirements and procedures to conducting aircraft tests and providing detailed documentation. The role requires a strong background in aerospace or mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years of flight test experience. You'll be working with cutting-edge technologies and tools, including Python, Matlab, and various data acquisition systems.

Responsibilities For Senior R&D Flight Test Engineer

  • Lead ground and flight test activities
  • Gather and develop test requirements from engineering disciplines
  • Collaborate with engineers to create test configurations, procedures, conditions, and maneuvers
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and schedules
  • Coordinate test schedules with maintenance, engineering, and flight operations teams
  • Define flight test safety hazards and implement mitigation strategies
  • Define and monitor test configurations
  • Conduct aircraft tests and provide daily progress reports
  • Update flight logs and test documentation
  • Write detailed test reports to document results

Requirements For Senior R&D Flight Test Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (aerospace or mechanical preferred)
  • At least 5 years of flight test experience
  • Experience flight testing aerospace systems
  • Experience writing flight test plans, documenting safety hazard assessments, and creating test cards
  • Familiar with NX, Teamcenter, Python, Matlab, JIRA, G Suite, ARINC/Ethernet/Serial communication protocol
  • Strong communication skills
  • Solution oriented with strong analytical mindset
  • Positive team player
