Description For Senior Staff Aircraft Performance Engineer

Wisk is revolutionizing urban mobility through the development of safe, all-electric, autonomous flight vehicles. We're seeking a Senior Staff Aircraft Performance Engineer to join our S&C and Performance group within the Flight Physics team. This role is crucial for designing, simulating, flight testing, and certifying our current and future eVTOL aircraft.

The position involves developing comprehensive methodologies and aircraft performance models, including propulsion, ESPS, and thermal aspects. You'll serve as the technical integrator and primary point of contact for aircraft performance-related topics within various systems, including Vehicle Management System (VMS), Mission Management System (MMS), and Airspace Operations.

Working in a hybrid model at our Mountain View office, you'll be part of a team focused on performing linear and non-linear stability & control analysis, sizing flight control surfaces, and building the first fully autonomous all-electric aircraft for urban air-mobility. The role requires hands-on experience with fixed wing aircraft and/or rotorcraft development, from concept through certification.

Responsibilities For Senior Staff Aircraft Performance Engineer

  • Develop a Computerized Aircraft Performance Program for aircraft performance calculation
  • Develop tools & processes for performance data reduction & expansion
  • Develop and run 6DoF simulation models
  • Estimate critical performance parameters
  • Support integration of Performance Program within aircraft systems
  • Support Propulsion group in electric motor ratings definition
  • Plan and participate in flight test campaigns
  • Author and review certification documents for FAA/EASA compliance

Requirements For Senior Staff Aircraft Performance Engineer

Python
  • B.S. in Aerospace Engineering or relevant discipline
  • 12+ years of experience in Performance analysis on fixed wing aircraft/rotorcraft
  • Strong knowledge of performance methodologies and software development
  • Experience developing performance data for Aircraft Flight Manual
  • Experience with test plans based on certification requirements
  • Excellent understanding of aircraft performance analysis
  • Experience with simulation and flight testing
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB
  • Experience with aircraft development program phases
