Wisk is revolutionizing urban mobility through the development of safe, all-electric, autonomous aircraft. As a Staff Software Engineer in the Avionics Battery Management System (BMS) Software team, you'll play a crucial role in developing embedded airborne software that meets FAA certification standards. This position, based in Mountain View, CA, offers an opportunity to work on groundbreaking technology that will shape the future of transportation.

The role involves developing software according to DO-178C standards, working with MathWorks products for model-generated code, and collaborating across multiple teams to create certifiable embedded airborne software. You'll be responsible for the full software lifecycle, from requirements to integration, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to problem-solving activities.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of experience with a strong background in aerospace projects, particularly those governed by DO-178C. Your expertise in complex electronics for safety-critical systems, combined with experience in MathWorks Model-Based Development tools and RTOS concepts, will be essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities For Staff Software Engineer

  • Develop embedded airborne software per DO-178C and its supplements
  • Support problem solving activities through development of software and integration within the BMS and other systems
  • Work with Software Engineers from multiple Integrated Product Teams, Systems Engineers, suppliers, contractors
  • Plan and execute mentorship programs with junior Software Engineers
  • Create certifiable embedded airborne software

Requirements For Staff Software Engineer

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Electronics, or relevant engineering discipline
  • 8 years experience with Bachelor's or 6 years with Master's or 3 years with PhD
  • Experience with DO-178C and its supplements
  • Hands-on experience with software requirements, design, code and integration
  • Strong knowledge of complex electronics for safety critical systems
  • 2+ years experience with MathWorks Model-Based Development tools
  • Strong understanding of RTOS concepts and concurrent software design
  • Strong communication skills and positive team player
  • 20% travel required
