AI Engineer (UK)

Writer is seeking an AI Engineer with a strong software engineering background to join our expanding team of AI experts. As an AI Engineer at Writer, you'll play a pivotal role in developing and implementing state-of-the-art generative AI models and algorithms. You'll collaborate closely with our diverse team of software engineers, data scientists, and researchers to design and deploy AI solutions that drive our innovative products.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with the engineering team to evolve our software architecture for new AI-powered capabilities
• Evaluating AI model performance through rigorous testing and experimentation
• Deploying LLM-based applications in production and improving their performance
• Integrating AI capabilities into production systems, ensuring scalability and efficiency
• Staying updated with the latest AI and ML research advancements
• Translating business requirements into innovative AI solutions
• Designing and maintaining robust retrieval and agentic systems
• Implementing strong testing and CI/CD practices

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
• High level of coding proficiency using Python
• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, AI/ML development
• Proficiency with production software and systems design
• Experience with machine learning algorithms, model development, and ML lifecycle tools
• Cloud deployment of ML systems
• Professional experience with LLMs and large-scale models
• Strong software engineering skills and analytical problem-solving abilities
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred skills:

• Experience building scalable applications with LLMs using frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, etc.
• Depth of knowledge with RAG implementation and improvements
