As an Opto-Mechanical Engineer, you'll be integral to building state-of-the-art UV laser systems for laser-driven inertial fusion. Responsibilities For Mechanical Engineer (Opto-Mechanical)

  • Work on technical mechanical and opto-mechanical engineering for deep UV high energy laser beam transport
  • Collaborate with optical engineering, mechanical, and controls systems teams
  • Design mirror mounts, windows, and opto-mechanical systems using SolidWorks
  • Perform FEA for optical surface deformation analysis
  • Create and maintain interface control documents
  • Handle hardware procurement
  • Conduct design, test and integration
  • Work hands-on in optics labs

Requirements For Mechanical Engineer (Opto-Mechanical)

  • B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, optical engineering, or related field
  • 6+ years of direct opto-mechanical engineering experience
  • Proficiency in mechanical design software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Experience with FEA
  • Experience in designing and characterizing precision optical mounts
  • Experience in optical system/subsystem integration
  • Experience in creating and maintaining interface control documents
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
