Responsibilities For Lead Engineer
- Guide technical design and implementation of architecture principles
- Provide mentorship and coaching to ensure best practices
- Guide quality engineering practices for the team
- Contribute to Xero's engineering standards and frameworks
- Champion automation of delivery processes
- Lead incident responses and post-mortems
- Participate in interviews and recruitment processes
- Work with engineering leadership to apply standards to software and delivery processes
Requirements For Lead Engineer
- Expert in area of specialization
- Experience with distributed systems architecture
- Ability to lead discussions on application design
- Experience in scaling products 2-10 times the number of users
- Experience in coaching and mentoring engineers across multiple disciplines
- Ability to make code design decisions for teams' products
- Experience in auditing team codebases
- Ability to act as incident coordinator in production incidents
