Staff Backend Engineer

Xometry (NASDAQ: XMTR) is a digital marketplace that connects innovative thinkers with manufacturers, powering industries of today and tomorrow. We're seeking a Staff-level Backend Engineer with strong Python or Rust expertise for a 1-year contract. You'll join our software engineering team to evolve our instant-quote product and underlying technology platform.

As part of a small, skilled team, you'll have total ownership of your work and contribute to the crucial Xometry platform. Your responsibilities include designing, coding, testing, and releasing software; working with HTML, TypeScript/JavaScript/React, Python, and Rust; collaborating closely with engineers and product managers; and taking operational responsibility for team-owned services in AWS and Kubernetes environments.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience in fast-paced technical environments, strong English communication skills, and demonstrable software engineering expertise. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, DOM web programming, and experience with at least two of Python, Rust, and React is required. Experience with build and testing technologies (Git/Github actions, GitLab) is desired.

You should have a strong understanding of software engineering principles related to security, scalability, asynchronous programming, and transactions. Experience with service-oriented architectures and relational/NoSQL databases is a plus. Attention to detail, good work ethic, multitasking abilities, and excellent communication skills are essential.
