Staff Backend Engineer

Xometry (NASDAQ: XMTR) is a digital marketplace that connects innovative thinkers with manufacturers, powering industries of today and tomorrow. We're seeking a Staff-level Backend Engineer with strong Python expertise to join our software engineering team. You'll be part of a skilled, collaborative group evolving our instant-quote product and underlying technology platform. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a small, intensely skilled team, values ownership of their work, and is passionate about continuous learning and coding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, code, test, and release software
• Work with HTML, TypeScript/JavaScript/React, Python, and Rust
• Collaborate closely with engineers and product managers
• Manage operational aspects of team-owned services, including AWS and Kubernetes deployments
• Participate in on-call rotation
• Contribute to an environment supporting individual growth

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience as a software developer in a fast-paced environment
• Strong English communication skills
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and DOM web programming
• Expertise in at least two of Python, Rust, and React
• Experience with software engineering principles related to security, scalability, asynchronous programming, and transactions
• Attention to detail, strong work ethic, multitasking ability, and excellent communication skills

Desired Skills:

• Experience with Git/GitHub actions, GitLab
• Knowledge of service-oriented architectures
• Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases
