Description For Product Engineer, Work at a Startup

Y Combinator, the renowned startup accelerator, is seeking a Product Engineer to join their small but impactful software team of 15 full-stack engineers. This role focuses on enhancing YC's hiring platform, workatastartup.com, which has successfully placed over 1,600 people in startups. The position offers unique exposure to the startup ecosystem, working directly from YC's campus in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood.

The role involves building critical features for the hiring platform, including messaging systems, enterprise sourcing tools, and candidate profiles. You'll work with a modern tech stack (Rails, React, Postgres) in a fast-paced environment where engineers regularly interact with customers and ship quickly. The team culture emphasizes flexibility, direct customer interaction, and autonomous product development.

Working at YC places you at the heart of the startup world, offering invaluable insights into successful company building. The team includes veterans from companies like Meta and Google, and many former engineers have gone on to found YC-funded startups. This position is perfect for someone who wants to gain deep startup expertise while working on meaningful products that help founders build the next generation of successful companies.

The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $180,000 to $270,000 base salary plus bonus, and includes comprehensive benefits like profit-sharing, full healthcare coverage, 401(k) matching, and generous leave policies. The role requires in-person work in San Francisco, with relocation support available for those moving to the area.
