YouTube is seeking a Data Support Engineer to join their Business Technology team. This role focuses on developing and maintaining solutions that streamline data access, enhance data hygiene, and improve telemetry for YouTube's support teams. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data engineering, with 4 years of coding experience and a background in troubleshooting technical issues. You'll be working on building tools, creating proof-of-concept prototypes, and generating technical design documents to address data needs. The role requires expertise in big data technologies, cloud platforms, and data governance. Responsibilities For Data Support Engineer
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to design, develop, and deploy data integration that empower support teams to address user needs
- Translate support requirements into technical specifications for data-driven tools, and dashboards ensuring alignment with business needs
- Identify opportunities to leverage data to improve support workflows, optimize response times, and enhance the overall user experience
- Provide technical guidance support to other engineers on data integration to power anchor systems, and reports related to support operations
- Analyze, review, and modify programs to increase operating efficiency or meet new requirements as well as execute testing, debugging, maintenance or program updates
Requirements For Data Support Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience
- 4 years of experience reading code in a general purpose coding language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go or JavaScript, etc.) or in system design
- 4 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs, and triaging technical issues
- 4 years of experience with 2 or more of the following: Web Tech, Data/Big Data, Systems Admin, Machine Learning, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, SAP
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
- Experience with unit testing, agile project development, and bug and change management systems
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms and workflow orchestration tools
- Experience with data governance and data quality best practices
