YouTube Trust and Safety is seeking a Product Manager to lead their GenerativeAI Safety initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of AI innovation and platform safety, focusing on developing and implementing AI/ML powered detection systems that work at scale. The position involves working with cross-functional teams to ensure the safe launch of GenAI features across text, image, and video modalities.
The ideal candidate will bring together technical expertise in Machine Learning and AI with a strong product management background. You'll be responsible for building detection systems that can identify unsafe output, partnering with various teams to improve model fairness, and ensuring new features meet safety standards before launch.

The position comes with competitive compensation including a base salary range of $122,000-$178,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

The role requires 3 years of product management experience, with specific expertise in ML-based products and technical consumer product launches.

Responsibilities For Product Manager, GenerativeAI Safety, YouTube Trust and Safety
- Partner with creative cross-functional teams looking to launch AI-based products
- Leverage Machine Learning and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to build detection systems with real world impact; test their performance, and iterate
- Work collaboratively with engineering, feature, legal, policy, operations, UX and other teams to build systems to enable GenAI features
- Advocate for user safety and contribute to the development of best practices, policies or process for responsible AI development
- Be an expert on risk AI can introduce into a feature
Requirements For Product Manager, GenerativeAI Safety, YouTube Trust and Safety
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 3 years of experience in product management or a related technical role
- 1 year experience in an investigative role like developing Machine Learning based products or Machine Learning based classification/ranking systems
- 1 year of experience taking technical consumer products from conception to launch
- Master's degree in a technology or business related field (preferred)
- 2 years of experience in a business function or role (preferred)
- 2 years of experience in preparing and delivering technical presentations to executive leadership (preferred)
- 2 years of experience working cross-functionally with engineering, UX/UI, and other stakeholders (preferred)
- Experience with Trust and Safety (content moderation) and AI/ML fairness (preferred)
