In this role as a Senior Security Engineer at YouTube, you will help set the focus, direction and impact of YouTube with regards to product and infrastructure security. You will be part of the Security team that works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. As a Security Engineer, you will work with network equipment, actively monitor systems for attacks and intrusions, and collaborate with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.
Key responsibilities include: • Identifying security issues and implementing and designing security controls, tools, and services to improve security systems and processes. • Reviewing and developing secure operational practices, and providing security guidance for engineers and support staff. • Leading and consulting on security incidents across YouTube products. • Exploring foundational/LLM models for identifying security gaps in product areas. • Reviewing designs for security gaps, both with one-time and longer term engagements, surfacing vulnerability patterns and designing them out.
The ideal candidate should have: • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. • 5 years of experience with security assessments, security design reviews, or threat modeling. • 5 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols. • 5 years of coding experience in one or more general-purpose languages. • 1 year of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment. • Experience in development with a focus on Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC). • Experience with the full software stack from devices to front-end serving stack, back-end, video streaming systems, global networking, crypto, and protocols. • Excellent communication skills and a data-driven analytical approach toward solving complex challenges. • Strong security skills (e.g., analysis, debugging, tracing).
