Technical Program Manager III, Infrastructure Resource Management, YouTube

YouTube is seeking a Technical Program Manager III to lead their Infrastructure Resource Management initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of technical infrastructure and resource optimization, requiring a blend of technical expertise and strategic planning abilities.

The position involves leading complex projects related to YouTube's infrastructure capacity planning, resource allocation, and efficiency optimization. You'll work closely with engineering teams to forecast capacity needs, ensure efficient resource utilization, and drive financial accountability while supporting YouTube's rapid growth and product launches.

As a TPM III, you'll be responsible for developing and evaluating capacity plans, collaborating with engineering teams, and maintaining YouTube's infrastructure footprint. The role requires strong technical aptitude, particularly in data center infrastructure and resource planning, combined with excellent project management skills.

Key responsibilities include analyzing usage trends, partnering with engineers for resource estimation, providing 18-month forecasts for supply-chain teams, and identifying efficiency opportunities. You'll also work on building and improving tooling to scale the planning process and manage resource requests for new launches and system migrations.

The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of program management experience, particularly in managing cross-functional projects. Technical skills, including familiarity with Python and SQL, are highly valued. You'll need to be equally comfortable discussing technical tradeoffs with engineers and presenting recommendations to executives.
