The position involves taking ownership of Zoopla's design system, which supports multiple brands and serves as a core dependency for their customer-facing web application, with plans to expand to mobile applications and other sites. As the sole full-time engineer on the team, you'll be supported by a collection of core contributors while leading the direction and improvement of the product.
Your responsibilities will encompass maintaining and developing features using React/TypeScript, ensuring consistency between design tools (Figma and Storybook), and serving as the primary point of contact for engineers interacting with the design system. The role requires a strong focus on best practices, clean code, and comprehensive documentation.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience with React, React-Native, NX, and StoryBook, along with a proven track record of working with and scaling design systems in organizational settings. Your ability to work independently, solve complex technical problems, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be crucial.
Zoopla offers an attractive benefits package including flexible working arrangements, 25 days annual leave (plus additional days for service), comprehensive health coverage, and financial incentives such as a 7.5% pension contribution and potential annual bonus. The company serves over 50 million monthly visitors, providing exclusive data and information on UK properties, connecting users with homes, agents, and mortgage deals.
This role presents an exciting opportunity to shape the future of digital property experiences while working with a dynamic team that embraces innovation. You'll be instrumental in helping Zoopla achieve its mission of helping the nation make better home decisions through improved digital experiences.
