Zoox, an innovative company in the autonomous vehicle space, is seeking a Senior Human Systems Interfaces Engineer to lead their Human Machine Interface (HMI) System for their robotaxi service. This role is crucial as it bridges the interaction between customers and Zoox's autonomous vehicles, focusing on ingress, egress, and rider comfort.
The position requires a seasoned professional with 8 years of experience who will work with a diverse team including product managers, UX designers, firmware engineers, software engineers, and robot systems engineers. The role involves creating and maintaining system architecture, documentation, and implementing new rider-facing functions.
Key responsibilities include leading Systems Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, system-level triage, and working with cross-functional teams to create implementation plans. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in vehicle communication networks, hardware/software development processes, and experience with fail-safe systems.
The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $190,000 to $249,000, plus Amazon RSUs and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. Responsibilities For Senior Human Systems Interfaces Engineer
- Create and maintain architecture model for system behavior
- Maintain and author system documentation including diagrams and requirements
- Work with development partners to create implementation plans
- Lead Systems Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Lead system-level triage for bugs and reported issues
Requirements For Senior Human Systems Interfaces Engineer
- 8 years of engineering work experience
- Working knowledge of vehicle communication network systems (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
- Strong understanding of hardware and software development processes
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Experience leading cross-functional teams
- Experience designing fail-safe and fault-tolerant systems
- Experience debugging complex systems with multiple ECUs
