Zoox, a pioneering company in autonomous vehicle technology, is seeking a Senior/Staff Software Engineer specializing in Simulation Traffic & Behavior Modeling. This role is crucial to Zoox's mission of developing fully autonomous vehicle fleets for urban environments.

As a Senior/Staff Software Engineer in this position, you'll be at the forefront of creating realistic simulations that are essential for developing and validating Zoox's autonomous driving software. Your work will directly impact the company's progress towards its goals, making this an exciting opportunity for those passionate about pushing the boundaries of autonomous technology.

Key responsibilities include populating simulated roads with intelligent participants, creating realistic behaviors for various road users (cars, pedestrians, bicyclists, etc.), and advancing the state of the art in traffic and behavior modeling. You'll work closely with AI software teams, QA, and Validation Engineers, contributing significantly to the advancement of autonomous driving.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Computer Science or a related field, with at least 8 years of experience. Proficiency in C++ is essential, along with solid mathematics skills. Experience in game development, traffic simulation, motion planning, or pathfinding would be highly valuable, as would familiarity with Python.

Responsibilities For Senior/Staff Software Engineer - Simulation Traffic & Behavior Modeling

  • Populate the simulated roads with intelligent participants
  • Create simulated cars, pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcyclists, etc. to behave realistically by default, and tunable to create a full gamut of traffic/agent behaviors
  • Push the state of the art in traffic and behavior modeling to capture real-world behaviors as closely as possible
  • Work closely with various teams — including AI software teams, QA, and Validation Engineers — to push autonomous driving forward
