Senior Staff / Principal Engineer

Zscaler, a leading cloud security company serving thousands of enterprise customers worldwide, including 40% of Fortune 500 companies, is seeking a Senior Staff / Principal Engineer to join their ZPA Control Plane team. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in Java/C# coding in distributed and enterprise-scale environments, with expertise in cloud infrastructure services, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD systems. This hybrid role, based in Hyderabad/Mohali, India, involves advising senior leadership, providing product-wide architectural guidance, and making impactful changes to Zscaler's cloud security platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and operate high-scale systems
• Provide architectural guidance for product-wide initiatives
• Mentor and guide team members (no direct managerial responsibilities)
• Be on call for cloud incidents and write Root Cause Analyses (RCAs)
• Contribute to the development of Zscaler's multitenant architecture

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in Java/C# coding in distributed environments
• Experience with cloud infrastructure services (AWS/Azure)
• Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and deployment strategies
• Experience building full CI/CD systems leveraging Kubernetes
• Strong problem-solving and incident management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with data tiers for large-scale web services (Postgres and Redis)
• Knowledge of web service frameworks and identity/access management systems
• Familiarity with OAuth, SAML protocols, and security services
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
