Description For Staff Network Engineer

Zscaler, the world's largest cloud security platform operator, is seeking a Staff Network Engineer to join their Cloud Ops team. Founded in 2007, Zscaler serves thousands of enterprise customers, including 40% of Fortune 500 companies, and operates the world's largest security cloud. The company's AI-powered Zero Trust Exchange platform protects enterprise customers from cyberattacks and data loss.

As a Staff Network Engineer, you'll be part of a remote team based in Netherlands, reporting to the EMEA Manager of Network Engineering. You'll be responsible for deploying, operating, monitoring, and supporting Zscaler's worldwide production network across multiple data centers. The role requires participation in on-call rotation during weekends and holidays.

The ideal candidate should have 5-8 years of experience with high-speed fiber Ethernet networks, expert-level knowledge of BGP routing, and deep understanding of various protocols including DNS, HTTPS, GRE, and IPsec. You'll be working with a team that processes tens of billions of transactions daily, scanning a petabyte of data for 15 million users globally.

Responsibilities For Staff Network Engineer

  • Deploy, operate, monitor, and support Zscaler worldwide production network inside multiple data centers
  • Participate in on-call rotation during weekends and holidays
  • Operate enterprise and telecom data center networks
  • Network troubleshooting and maintenance

Requirements For Staff Network Engineer

Linux
Python
  • 5-8 years of experience with high-speed fiber Ethernet networks
  • Expert level hands-on experience in BGP routing operation, design, and troubleshooting in IPv4 and IPv6
  • Deep knowledge of DNS, HTTPS, GRE, and IPsec protocols
  • Experience troubleshooting L2 and L3 Ethernet networks
  • In-depth understanding of TCP/IP stack and IP-packet analysis using Wireshark
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in remote Data Centre operations
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux/FreeBSD and Network equipment
  • Familiarity with Unix Shell scripts, Python or Perl
