Staff Software Engineer

Zscaler, the world's largest cloud security platform, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Engineering team. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, you'll be responsible for developing and managing shared infrastructure automation for US federal, regulated, and sovereign cloud environments. You'll improve security of CI/CD systems, automate change management processes, define DevOps standards, and create delivery mechanisms for operational collateral. The role involves participating in on-call rotation to support a highly available engineering platform and ensure compliance with federal guidelines.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and managing shared infrastructure automation
• Improving CI/CD system security and automating change management
• Defining and enforcing DevOps standards and best practices
• Automating new Zscaler cloud build-outs
• Supporting a highly available engineering platform

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent
• 5+ years of commercial services development experience
• 5+ years of public cloud experience (AWS or Azure)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
• Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with High/Moderate FedRamp authorization levels (IL5/IL6 is a plus)
• Experience in continuous monitoring, vulnerability scanning, patching, and reporting
• Experience with multiple cloud providers and both relational and non-relational databases for microservices
