What are the best practices for onboarding and being successful at meta MLE ads rankings team (E4)? Please share your thoughts on office culture/how to go along well with manager? tips for successful E4-->E5 track? how to ensure getting projects with Impact (team dominated by members from 1 country)?

Note, I will go through the on-boarding course by Rahul, but was looking for some tailored suggestions, thanks

I worked on Meta ads for ~3 years, specifically Instagram. While I was on front-end (Android), I interacted a lot with ads ranking engineers as a tech lead. My advice when working on ranking is to become very familiar with the experimentation tools at Meta ASAP as they're very complex and everything (especially ranking changes) is deeply A/B tested. Check out this thread from a Meta E4: "I got feedback about experimenting, and I'm unsure how to process it."

I also recommend this thread to better understand ads teams and their culture overall: "What is it like working on ads teams?"

For L4 -> L5, I highly recommend the mid-level to senior course: [Course] Grow From Mid-Level To Senior Engineer: L4 To L5

The case studies in that course should be especially relevant for you as they're both from my time at Instagram Ads (one of them literally even has to do with ads ranking). They should give ample inspiration on the kinds of tough business problems to look out for to get good scope (or better yet, to create good scope as that's required for E4 -> E5).
