This summer, I will be joining Meta as an intern. Suppose during my internship, my intern manager is extremely busy and is fighting off PIP. Due to this, he/she does not have time to answer my questions and I will need to figure out most things on my own.
I understand being at Meta right now is very stressful, and it is best to assume good intent. I was wondering if you had any tips on how to best handle this situation and secure a return offer.
Here's what you need to remember: You should not rely on a single person for guidance and feedback.
This is true whether you're an intern or a full-time engineer. A single point of failure will lead to anxiety and stress for everyone. Other people you should build a relationship with and talk to:

First off, they would never assign an intern to someone who is fighting off PIP. It's possible they get put on PIP after, but that's not likely. Ignoring that though, there are many other reasons why your intern manager can disappear on you suddenly (illness, family issue, etc).
Situations like these are why you absolutely have to diversify your mentor base. Build relationships with people besides your intern manager, so you can also ask them for help.
We'll be making a revamped internship course soon, and a broader networking course is my next course after I finish my current side projects one. Stay tuned!
