I use AI tools regularly. As a YC founder, I have also interacted with lots of AI startups led by brilliant founders (ex-Google/Meta Staff+ MLEs). While AI is already proving to be tremendously useful, I haven't seen much evidence that it can be a relatively independent, autonomous, highly-functional entity on an engineering team. We actually tinkered with an AI tool that would automatically generate pull requests for simple bugs/features, and it failed miserably. Again, this was a tool built by very high-quality AI founders, not randoms.
In short, I'm not giving much attention to the Devin until I see more results. I'm sure it's a lot jankier than the founders realize.
yeah for sure. I linked a blog where they say that it's able to solve PRs in open source repos. they say that it really shines in doing grunt work that no one wants to do
