interviewing with Elastic

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to apply to Elastic soon for a Mid-Senior role like Software Engineer - Distributed Systems or something similar in the Java,K8s ecosystem. I'm wondering how to best prepare for the interview as I couldn't find a lot of information on how their interviews are structured ? Are they doing DSA, System Design, Behavioral interviews rounds or are their interviews structured differently (maybe focusing on the role and mostly the Java ecosystem)? Do you have any insider info on how technical the roles at Elastic are ? Thanks ! :)

Sorry don't have any inside info. But you can find a lot of this info out yourself if you can secure the interview.

The best way to find out is to apply now and secure the interview. Then you can ask the hiring team what the interview process looks like + some detailed follow-up questions. If you're underprepared, respond slower to Elastic and push back the interviews so you can prepare

We are actually introducing a new product called "Interview Insights" this month that will address this issue. You'll be able to find out more about the interview process at a specific company, mainly focused around interview questions that were actually asked by interviewers. You'll be able to search for a combo of company/level/team/location to find exact interview info for the role you are interviewing for.

    Building up on Elliot's answer...

Have you tried asking these questions to the recruiter? Recruiters want you to succeed at interviews, they are happy to prepare you for the best possible outcome.

You can ask things like how many rounds of interviews, how many interviews in each round, what's the phone screen like, what's the onsite like, etc.

You can also ask about the nature and level of difficulty of the coding and system design rounds—will there be LeetCode problems or other coding problems, if LC, then will it be easy/medium/hard.

These are all fair questions to ask for targeted prep and nest chances of success.

there’s no recruiter, just my plan to apply there. I will ask the hiring team more questions once I secure an interview. Thanks !

Sure. I assume once you apply, a recruiter will reach out to you. I'd ask then and if you need more prep based on their answers, I'd schedule the interviews a few weeks out.
