If I got referred into Meta by a regular employee (eg someone from the sales team) vs if an engineering leader had put the referral in for me, would there potentially be any difference in outcome? As a referral does not guarantee that someone is able to enter the interview loop. Also, if I m rejected at the resume screening stage, what’s the cooling period like?
Got it, that helps. So no penalty if you are rejected at the resume screening stage. Is it ok/common to push back onsites for about a month or two to prepare? Would it look bad or worsen my chances in getting the role. The roles I am looking it at the most generic ones - regular SWE roles with about 2 years of experience (based on their JD).
It's common to push back dates so you have more time to prepare (and won't reflect poorly on your packet), but there is a risk of the roles running out of headcount.
